We The People...Projects List

To return to WTP home page.
This is a partial list of projects that WTP is working on. We will often refer you to other organizations that work on similar projects. We are not in competition with those other organizations. On the contrary, we hope to work with them. This list will always be growing. If you have an idea for a project that is not on this list, or if the project that you are interested in is not in your area, please write us and ask us about it. We'll be happy to help get it set up. If you would like to get involved in one or more of these projects, or just would like more information regarding them, please write to us at: paladin@dallas.net

The other projects have no links yet because we need more people!
Help put this together. Work with us!

Getting We The People... established

We The People... is practically brand new. For this reason, our first priority is getting firmly established. In order to do that we are in need of help from people from a number of fields. Here are just a few: Because we are brand new, we do not yet have the funds to pay $25,000 salaries to everyone right now. That's why at this time, we're mostly looking for Volunteers and Interns who can put in a little time towards getting WTP off the ground so we can pay everyone! If you are interested in what We The People... is doing, but can't afford to donate time until we can pay you for it, we would still like to hear from you, and will keep in touch as our resources grow.

Compiling Governmental Names and Contact Addresses from Local to Federal

Part of the focus of We The People... is to remind the people of this country that it is our country, and that the government, especially local government, is here to serve us, the citizens who pay for it. It is not supposed to be an us versus them situation. We believe that it is not enough to vote only once every four years and then complain that the country isn't everything we wish it was. It is imperative that we work closely with our government, especially on local levels, to bring about the kind of reforms that can benefit our mutual society. We have the power united if we wish to use it. This is a democracy, and for a democracy to work best takes keeping the citizens in it in touch with their 'Representatives'. Sadly, most people don't even know who their local Representatives are, and wouldn't know how to get in touch with them anyway.

Why do you need to keep in touch with your Representatives? For the same reason that Special Interests Groups are so good and organized at doing it. That's how laws and changes are introduced and fought for. Isn't it time that the people of this country had a Lobby of their own?

WTP is also dedicated to making sure citizens within it are informed regarding candidates for government elections, so that come the time to vote, especially for their local representatives, they can be an informed electorate, and make an intelligent choice, rather that one based on rhetoric, or worse yet, just a faceless name on a sign by the road.

Here are some useful links for reaching your government

Getting Parents More Involved in their Children's Education

We strongly believe that improving education for our children is central to securing a better future for our country and our world. We want the upcoming generations to be supplied with the best information and education available so they can combat the issues and problems that face them. To this end, we would like to work with local PTA organizations, schools, and students together to bring more awareness to school issues; such as acquiring books and computers, guns or drugs in school, teen pregnancy and other sexual issues, tenure issues, etc. Our goal is to get more parents to take an active part in their children's education, realizing the critical role the schools play in their child's development.

Hooking Schools and Libraries to the Internet

Our children should have all the best tools and resources available to help them solve the problems of today and tomorrow. Having access to the Internet is essential to that ideal. It's like having a global library at your fingertips. With it, you can have access to a world of information on almost every topic, as well as the potential to communicate world wide with people of all cultures and beliefs. That is why it is so vital that our schools and libraries have at least basic access to this incredible resource. There is a project going on called NetDay (it's not really any one day) which is actively pursuing this goal. What they do is find corporate sponcers that allow them to purchase $350 kits, which allow them to hook up at least 5 classrooms and the school library to the Internet. The people doing the actual wiring up are all Volunteers. They've been very successful so far, and I highly recommend you visit their site to get more information if that kind of project interests you. If you know of another site or organization that is doing something like this, write me!
