The Masonic History of Hal Muldrow

from James D. "Dee" Brown from Jan. 2000...

Pertaining to Hal5 Muldrow (John The Elder of SC1, John2, Simon3, Robert4) of OK (my husband Grady8 Muldrow's great-grandfather):

Dee says, "Hal was born on 10-12-1872 in Paducah, KY. In Masonry he was initiated an Entered Apprentice on 4-3-1896, Passed to the Degree of Fellow Craft on 5-1-1896 and Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on 6-26-1896 in South McAlester Lodge #81 in McAlester, Indian Territory. He demitted to Tishomingo Lodge #91 in Tishomingo, IT on 2-19-1902 andaffiliated on 3-25-1902. His Masonic History shows that he served as Worshipful Master of Tishomingo Lodge #91 for four consecutive years in 1902, 03, 04 and 1905. He served as Senior Steward in 1906.

"In the Grand Lodges he served The Grand Lodge of Indian Territory as Junior Grand Steward in 1902, Junior Grand Deacon in 1903, Senior Grand Deacon in 1904, Junior Grand Warden in 1905, Senior Grand Warden in 1906, Deputy Grand Master in 1907 and Grand Master in 1908. With the merger of the two territory Grand Lodges (in which he was very instrumental) he was elected the first Grand Master of the newly formed Grand Lodge (now in existence) in 1909.

from Keep Your Trust in The Lord.... by Al Muldrow

He continued to serve the Grand Lodge in some capacity continously until his death.

"It was thought that he was also a member of Norman Lodge #38 from 1915 until 1932 but this was in error. He was an Honorary Member although he was carried as a regular member. He died on May 15, 1951. His full name was Henry (Hal) Lowndes Muldrow, Sr. He was so active in the civic affairs in Norman, OK that a street in Norman is named after him. His Past Grand Master picture hangs in the PGM's picture in our Grand Lodge Building in Guthrie, OK.

"I know this might not be of much interest to those who are not aware of the Masonic Fraternity, but to those Muldrows who are Master Masons this will be of great interest to them. I hope you will be ableto use this in one of your future Muldrow Newsletters."

Well...it took a while, Dee, but I finally got it in a newsletter!
