Info found in conjuction with Roger Fish at the Berkshire Anthenaeum library in Pittsfield, Mass. Roger had followed his line back to an Abraham Fish or Fisk, thinking the family may have changed the name from Fisk to Fish. No wonder, near the same area in NY there was a John Fish, son of Ephraim and a John Fisk, son of Ephraim. Buddy and Roger followed both for a while, the Fiske family coming to NY from Cheshire, Mass., a town not far from me. These Fisk folk returned to this area after a spell and we found the gravestones for most of them. Buddy and Roger did manage to find Roger's ancestors and found quite a story of frontiersmen to go with it.

Thomas Fish #72 was born in 1619 in England. He died in Rhode Island. His children included: Robert, said to be born about 1649 (listed that way in WFT Vol 7, tree#143) Note: according to the book "The Early Records of Portsmouth", ed'd ...by the Librarian of the Rhode Island Hisotrical Society, Providence, R.I., 1901-Thomas Fish, page 43, 1649, then again on page 39 for 1649, then on page22, shownin a land arrangement/deal in Portsmouth in 1643, the earliest mentionof him inthis particualr book. #600 Zurial7 Fish was born about 1730-50, the son of Thomas Fish. He married Alse Hart July 2, 1770 in Tiverton, Rhode Island, she the daughter of Smiton Hart.
Their children, all born in Tiverton, included:

#600d Zurial Fish, born January 22, 1778, went to Manchester, New York (then part of Farmington) from Tinmouth, Rhode Island, arriving there about May 1, 1800 by ox drawn wagon, having traveled through the winter. He traveled with Phillip Lamunyon, later spelled Lamunion. Zurial had come to own 200 acres in Manchester, and Phillip owned 28 acres. Zurial died in Ontario County, about 1815, his burial site is unknown. He died in the Farmington/Manchester area.
His children include:

Abram Fish died in Ontario County, New York. His children include: Phillip, died in New York, buried in Sunnyside Cemetery, Manchester

Phillip Fish born about 1812-15 in NY, died in New York. He married Louisa ___,born about 1817-18 in New York. In 1860 they lived in the Norton Mills section of Farmington. Part of Farmington was struck off to form Manchester at some point.
Their children included:

Nelson D.Fish born about 1845 in NY, died NY and is buried in Brookside Cemetery, Shortsville, NY. He married Marriette E. ___, she born about 1846 in New York. Both her parents were born in NY also. Nelson was listed as a farmer in Farmington, NY in 1880. He had died by the time of his brother Myron's death in 1890. Marriette died shortly after Myron.
Their children included:

Julian Fish born July 1872, died possibly in NY, is buried in Shortsville, New York. Julian married Edith A. ___, apparently after May 1892, sheborn in December of 1871 in NY. Edith's father and mother were born inNew York.In 1900 they lived in Manchester, NY, moving to nearby Farmington by1920. They had at least 8 children. Note: Julian's age is given as 47 in the 1920 census, Edith's age is given as 48) 11/10/98

Note: Another interesting note about Zurial Fish. Buddy figures he must have had a speech impedment or similar handicap. Often times, whenever a reference mentions him, and I find reason to believe it is actually Zurial, his name is mispelled all over the place. Zurtal as in your listing of the 1820 NY census, and also as Zural and even Urial and others.
