Berlin Heights, Erie Co., Ohio. He attended Oberlin Acad. and
Univ. of Wis.  He taught schools some years in Erie Co., and
since 1911 has devoted himself to his farm there.
  On Apr. 12, 1910, he m. Anna Sophia Packer, dau. of Boardman
Henry and Mary Anna (Hanson) Packer of Battle Creek
and Greenville, Mich., and Chicago, who was b. Mar 15, 1870,
and had: (220 1/2) John12 Boardman, b. Dec 29, 1910, at Chicago;
m. May 8, 1933, Clara Louise Nagel, of Appleton, Minn (b.Nov 30, 1907).

Fish, was b. Oct 2, 1872, near Berlin Heights, Erie Co.,
Ohio; d. June 6, 1941, near Berlin Heights. Grad. A.B. Oberlin
1895; was vice-president of senior class, and associate editor of
"Hi-O-Hi."  She taught in private school, Lakewood, N.J.,
1895-96, and near Berlin Heights, 1897-98; private instructor in
Greek, Latin and French since 1900.
  On June 22, 1899, she m. Charles Francis McClure, M.D.,
son of Nathaniel Branter and Matilda Swain (Almonrode)
McClure of Western Springs, IL, who was b. Apr 29, 1872.

at Hartland, Niagara Co., NY; d. Oct 10, 1923, at Kipton,
Ohio.  She taught district school in Geauga and Erie Cos., Ohio.
On Apr. 9, 1855, she m. Albert W. Judson, son of James Clark

and Betsey (Burr) Judson, who was b.Feb 15, 1831, and d.
Apr 22, 1904. He was county surveyor of Erie Co. during several
terms.

Surgeon, son of (192) Elias Hicks and Betsey (Van Wagner)
Fish, was b. Feb 8, 1833, at Hartland, Niagara Co., NY; and
in 1836 was taken with his family to Auburn, Ohio.  He studied
medicine at Western Reserve Univ., Cleveland, OH, grad. 1860;
was commissioned Surgeon Major by President Lincoln, and
served with troops in the lower Mississipi Valley during the
Civil War.  Thereafter he practiced medicine in Auburn until
his death there Jan 7, 1888.
  Like Luke, he was the "Beloved Physician" to all about the
countryside. No night was too dark, no weather too boisterous
for Doctor John to respond to the call of his people, ot to the
stranger within his gates.
  On Nov. 22, 1855, he m. Mary Spencer Peabody, dau. of
George Alvin and Ann (Spencer) Peabody of Auburn, b.Apr.
14, 1839, at Newport, RI, and d. Oct 18, 1915, at Cleveland.

b. Mar 7, 1864, at Auburn, Geauga Co., OH; d. July 5, 1837,
at Cleveland, OH. On Dec 18, 1881, she m. Ashbel Post Ruggles,
son of Richard and Eleanor Emerson (Post) Ruggles of
Berlin Twp., Erie Co., OH, b.Oct 5, 1857, d. July 15, 1926, at
Cleveland. He was a civil engineer, successively with the county

surveyor of Cuyahoga Co., OH (2 years) Clevelnd Frog &
Crossing Co. (25 years), and Guardian Trust Co. (5 years).

240 RACHEL LOUNSBURY11 (FISH) WING, R.N. (John10, Elias9,

John1), first dau. of (205) John and Mary Spencer (Peabody) Fish,
was b. July 25, 1868, at Auburn, OH. She Attended Florence
(Erie Co., OH) High School, 1888-90, and was student nurse at
University Hospital (Cleveland, Ohio) one year (1891), at Cleveland
City Hospital one year (1892), and two years (1901-02) at
Boston City Hospital, from which she received the degree R.N.
She followed the nursing career in Cleveland and elsewhere,
1893-1901, 1903-04, and 1926-39; has conducted the Wing farm
in Auburn since 1925.  On May 18, 1904, she m. Willis Sheridan
Wing, son of Alexander Tyler and Frances Lucretia (Stafford)
Wing of Auburn.  Willis was b. Oct 18, 1866; d. Oct 3, 1925.
There were no children.

241 MATILDA11 (FISH) HILL, Ph. B. (John10, Elias9, Job8,

teacher and civic worker, dau. of (205) John and Mary Spencer
(Peabody) Fish, was b. Sept. 26, 1875, at Auburn, Geauga Co.,
1889-91; grad. from Northfield Seminary, East Northfield, MA,
1900, and from College for Women (now Mather College) of
Western Reserve Univ. Ph. B. 1903. She was honored by election
to Phi Beta Kappa. She taught history, English, Latin and
German, as follows:

     1893-94: district school Auburn
     1894-96: third and fourth grades, Berlin Heights, OH
     1903-04: Western College for Women, Oxford, OH
     1904-05: private school, Mt. Vernon, KY
     1905-07: High school, Berlin Heights
     1907-11: Hiram College, Hiram, OH
     1911-12: High School, Marietta, OH
     1912-13: Stanley Hall (private school), Minneapolis, MN

  In 1914 she traveled in Scotland, England, Belgium, Holland.
Germany, Switzerland and Italy, her trip being brought to an
end by the outbreak of the World War.

  In Berlin Heights she served on the Prudential Committee of
Church Council 1927-39; was a member of the Ladies Benevolent
Society of the church 1915-40; and treasurer or secretary of Red
Cross 1917-37.
  On Dec. 5, 1914, she m. Sterling Leonard Hill, son of Edwin
Ingalls and Sally Bowler (Peabody) Hill of Berlin Heights.
Sterling was b. Nov 24, 1859, and d. Nov 3, 1932.  He was in
school work many years, as teacher, principal and supt., and
member of the school boards of town, township and county.  For
many years he was leader of the local band, also of the choir of
the Congregational Church, in which he held the offices of deacon,
trustee and supt. of Sunday school. He also served as member
of the town council and as mayor.  He was actively interested
in several local enterprises, and was president of the Berlin
Heights Banking company.  Meanwhile his chief interest and
occupation was horticulture.  He devoted his large farm to fruit
growing, and served as president of the Ohio Horticultural Association.
Incidentally, he had great Pleasure in the use of tools,
and personally constructed and maintained many of his farm
structures.  His favorite diversions were hunting, fishing and
boating.  In short, during the grater part of his life he was the
outstanding citizen of his community, universally esteemed, and
his council constantly sought on all sorts of problems.

lawyer and bank officer, only son of (205) John and Mary Spencer
(Peabody) Fish, was b.Nov 5, 1877, at Auburn, Geauga Co.,
Ohio.  He grad. from Cleveland Central High School in 1898;
from Western Reserve Univ. Grad. School A.M. 1903; and from
Cleveland LAw School LL.B. 1908.
  He was with the Guardian Trust Co. (Cleveland, OH), 1905-33;
in the legal department 1908-17; assistant treasurer 1917-21;
vice-president 1921-33; since 1933 has been with Central National
Bank,in mortgage loan department. He was a member
of the school board of Cleveland Heights Jan 1, 1930-Dec 31,
1933, and president during 1932 and 1933. In the Ohio National
Guard he served during the years 1900, 1901, 1902. He has
been for many years trustee and treasurer of the Church of the
Saviour (MEth.) of Cleveland Heights.  He is a member of University
Club, Bene Lodge and Chapter, F. and A.M., Alpha Tau
Omega fraternity, and Delta Theta Phi (law fraternity). In
college he was manager of the basketball team.

  On Sept. 30, 1911, he m. Eva Hauzhurst, dau. of George I.
and Emma (Motter) Hauzhurst of Cleveland.  She was b. Feb.
27, 1880.

John and Eva (Hauzhurst) Fish, was b.Feb 26, 1913, at Cleveland, OH.
He grad. Dartmouth College A.B. 1934, and Western
Reserve Univ. School of Medicine, M.D., 1938; was interne and
resident in surgery in St. Vincent's Charity Hospital (Cleveland)
and then resident in obstetrics in University Hospital (Cleveland).
He was commissioned First Lieut., U.S. Army Medical Reserves,
and promotedto CApt. soon after war was declared in 1941. He
is a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity, Nu Sigma Nu
(medical fraternity), Dartmouth Club of Cleveland, Amer.
Medical Asso., and Cleveland Acad. of Mediceine; also of the
Church of the Saviour (Meth.) of Cleveland. He is a licensed
airplane pilot.
  On Apr. 25, 1939, he m. Elizabeth Bone, dau. of Howard
Dwight and Anna Margaret (Butz) Bone of Kokomo, Ind. She
was b. June 11, 1912.

248 BETTIE WOLCOTT12 (FISH) WHITNEY (John11, John10, Elias9,

John1), first dau. of (242) John and Eva (Hauzhurst) Fish, was
b. Mar 27, 1915, at Cleveland, Ohio.  Grad. from Laurel Preparatory
School 1933; attended Ohio Wesleyan Univ. two years
and Flora Stone Mather College of Western Reserve Univ. one
year.  She is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and of
the Church of the Saviour (MEth.) of Cleveland Heights.  Her
hobbies are dramatics, interior-decorating and social service
(nursing).  One June 27, 1939, she m. Franklyn Loren Whitney,
son of John and Blanche (------) Whitney of Conneaut, Ohio,
and architect. HE was b. Jan 26, 1913.
