1772, at Uxbridge, Lois Cummings, who was b. at Uxbridge,
Apr. 2, 1749, and d.May 27, 1774, dau. of Samuel and HAnnah
C. (Read) Cummings. One son, (3117) Ezra8, was b. Sept. 3,
1773. About 1780 he m. (2) Esther Thompson, who was b. July
1743, and d. Oct 27, 1826, age 83.

born. She was b. Sept. 25, 1816; d. May 3, 1844. He m. (2)
July 30, 1844, Marilla Russell, sister of his first wife, to whom
three children were born. She was b. Sept. 23, 1814, and d. Mar.
21, 1900, at 86.

3133 LIEUT. LORENZO ERASMUS10 FISH (Erasmus9, Ezra8, Seth7,
Nathaniel6, Stephen5, Stephen4), eldest son of (3130) Rev. Erasmus
Darwin and Cynthia (Russell) Fish, was b. Jan 21, 1837,
at the old family home at Shutesbury, Mass.; d. Sept. 26, 1902,
at the home of his son. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted
in the Union Army, where he served with distinction and
bravery. While on furlough at his home he m. Apr. 6, 1894,
Lucy Ann Starr, who was b. Jan 26, 1836, dau. of Ebenezer and
Cynthia (Liscom) Starr of Rowe, Mass. On Oct. 1, 1864, he was
appointed hospital steward of the Medical Corps with the rank
of Sergeant and on June 29, 1865, received his commission as
2nd Lieut., in the 32nd Regt. (colored), which commission he
held until mustered out of service. After the War he went West
and settled at Moline, Ill., where he was appointed a member of
the police force. He took a very active part in the affairs of the
town which was a thriving manufacturing center. In later life
he was for some years secy. of the Home Forum Benefit Order at
Chicago. He was also clerk of the Modern Woodmen of America,
at Elgin, Ill. Lucy Ann (Starr) Fish d. at East Moline, JUne 21,
1916.

Lorenzo E. and Lucy (Starr) Fish, was b. Oct 5, 1869, at Moline,
Ill. Deciding to become a farmer he went to Iowa and took up
land. On Jan 7, 1894, he m. at Fredericksburg, Iowa, Myrtie
Viola Pelton, dau. of Harvey J. and Mary (Hoyt) Pelton, who was
b. at Mentor, Iowa. In 1903 they emigrated to the new lands
being opened up for settlement in western Canada. For two
years they lived atNeepawa, Manitoba, and then for a time at
Rocanville, Saskatchewan, and in 1906, they finally settled in
what is now known as the Copeland district in Saskatchewan.
It requireda week to bring in their horses, oxen and household
effects from Lipton, then the nearest railroad town. They pioneered
on homestead land, living for the first summer in a sod
shack until thier home was built, and still live on the same farm,
which is now managed by their son Derward. The nearest town
is Dafoe. He was for many years a member of the first school
board in the district; is a member of the Church board that holds
services in the school house, which he helped plan and superintend
building. He has always worked in the interest of the school-children,
with whom he is a great favorite. He was the first
councilor in his district, and president of the Red Cross during
World War I.

3145 DERWARD HERBERT12 FISH (Darwin11, Lorenzo10, Erasmus9,
Ezra8, Seth7, Nathaniel6, Stephen5, Stephen4), Canadian
Veteran, eldest son of (3139) Darwin and Myrtie (Pelton) Fish,
was b. at Mentor, Iowa, Dec. 17, 1895. He attended schools in
Canada and took an agricultural course at the Univ. of Saskatoon.
On June 22, 1918, he enlisted in the Canadian Army, reporting
at Camp Regina where he was attached to Co. 7, 1st Bn. He was

discharged Feb. 14, 1919, his training being uncompleted at the
Armistice. He remainedon his father's farm, which he has managed
for several years. On Jan 24, 1934, at Raymore, Canada,
he m. Amy Armstrong, dau. of William and Ann (Hall) Armstrong.
On dau. (3145 1/2) Rema Myrtie Ann13, was b. July 2,
1937, at Copeland.
3146 LYLE EDDY12 FISH (Darwin11, Lorenzo10, Erasmus9, Ezra8,
Seth7, Nathaniel6, Stephen5, Stephen4), engineer, youngest son of
(3139) Darwin and Myrtie (Pelton) Fish, was b. Apr 23, 1899,
at Fredericksburg, Iowa. He attended the Agriculture School of
the Univ. of Saskaton, has worked for several years and is now
second engineer at the Power House at Kelliher, Canada. On
Aug. 15, 1934, he m. at Copeland, Ella Luraas, dau. of Anfin
Olson and Anne (Miland) Luraas. She was b. Mar 13, 1906, at
Miland, Telemarken, Norway.
3141 RICHARD EDDY11 FISH (Lorenzo10, Erasmus9, Ezra8, Seth7,
Nathaniel6, Stephen5, Stephen4), realtor, son of (3133) Lorenzo
and Lucy Ann (Starr) Fish, was b. Jan 11, 1872, at Moline, IL.;
lived for short periods in Minnesota, Texas and California, but
most of his life has benn spent in the old home town of the Fish
Family at Moline; the only member of the family remaining
there. He has been very Successful in the real estate business for
many years, and is president of the Moline Realty Board, also
active in the business life of Moline. On May 18, 1909, he m.
Mabel Elnora Tilson. He m.(2) Goldie Elaine Mowry, Oct.
2, 1935.
3142 PROF. HERBERT CLAY12 FISH, LL.B., A.M. (Lorenzo10,
Erasmus9, Ezra8, Seth7, Nathaniel6, Stephen5, Stephen4), Historian,
Teacher, Writer, son of (3133) Lorenzo and Lucy Ann
(Starr) Fish, was b. Aug 5, 1875, at Moline, IL. He received a
B.L. degree from the Univ. of Wisconsin, and in 1900 began his
long and successful teaching career in the schools of Indianapolis,
Ind., 1900-02, Covington, Ind., 1903-04, and Marshfield, Wis.,
1904-07. In 1907-15, he was Curator of the State Hist. Soc. of
North Dakota, at Bismarck. Prof. of History at State Teachers
College, Minot, No. Dak., 1915-19; and from 1920 on at the State
Normal School, Ellensburg, Wash. In 1919 he entered the Univ.
of Washington, where he obtained his A.M. degree.
Aug. 23, 1905, at Madison, Wis., he m. May Prudence Hall,
who was b. July 28, 1884, at Edgar Springs, Mo., dau. of Joseph

and Emily (Brown) Hall. They settled at Ellensberg, where for
many years they took a very active part in the life of the schools,
church and community.
Prof. Fish was recognizedas an authority on the history of the
West and especially of various Indian Tribes. He wrote several
books and publications including "The History of North Dakota,"
"Our State of Washington" and "Our Goverment in
Washington," and he was also the author of two pageants: "The
Spirit of the Trail," produced several times as the night feature
during Ellensburg's Rodeo Week, and "The Spirit of the Snohomish."
He was a friend of the Indians and an authority on the
sign language. He was a contributing Editor to the Wash. Hist.
Soc., and held a membership in the Mississippi Valley Hist.
Asso. and the Sons of the Amer. Rev. He d. Oct. 22, 1934, at
Ellensburg, and his wife lives at Clinton, Wash.

schools of North Dakota and Washington; grad. from Univ.

a Professor of History at Eatonville, Wash., High School. He m.
June 28, 1933, at Puyallup, Wash., Wilma Irene Lundrigan,
who was b. Oct. 7, 1904, in Kansas, dau. of William E. and
Alta (Swan) Lundrigan.
