including Nathan, and in 1745, when Nathan was eleven, they
moved to Ewing, where they took an active part in all community
activities. Several of their sons including Nathan, served
in the Rev. War, enlisting from their Ewing home. The descendants
of their sons John and Samuel are found to this day in the
counties of Glocester and Salem, NJ, and Fish references
to Gloucester, Cumberland and Salem counties in "New Jersey
Wills", and in the "Genealog. Magazine of NJ" refer most
likely to the family of (2176) Benjamin.

He m. twice, the second time in 1779, Jane Campbell, who was
b.1740, d. 1796. After the war his family joined that of Alexander
Hamilton, Jr., and moved to Carlisle, Pa. Later Nathan,
with his daughter Nancy, migrated across the mountains to
Western Pennsylvania, and his dau. Mary, and her husband,
geo. McCandless, also went with him. They stopped for a time
at Plum Twp., Allegheny Co.; later moved thirty miles farther
on into Center Twp., Butler Co., where he d. in 1801. He lies
buried in Unionville Cemetary. Time has almost obliterated the
following lines upon his tombstone:
"Life's duty done as sinks the clay,
Light from its load the spirit flies,
While heaven and earth combine to say
How blest the righteous when they die."
The genealogy of his and the McCandless families was written
by Olive J. Morgan of Bridgeville, Pa., a descendant of Mary (Fish)
McCandless.

was b. about 1740. He had a son, (2278) Benjamin8, b. possibly
1770, who became a director of the Camden & Amoy Railroad.
It is probable that Benjamin7 had a son, (2279) Jonathan
Sackett8? Fish. The "History of St. Michael's Church at Trenton,
NJ", states that Jonathan Sackett Fish of Amwell,NJ, was
the eldest son of Benjamin Fish, and that he was b. May 19,
1815, and d. Apr 29, 1872. He was treasurer of the City of Trenton,
