Note: This family has no real connection to mine, but this is my research.
from a Fannin Co, TX history book:
"Thomas C. Bean (1802-1887) came to Teaxs in 1835 from Coweta Co,GA.
His ancestry dates back to Germany and the year 1758.
Nicholas Bean (b.1758), the father of Tom Bean, was born in Hassel, Kassel,
Germany. He and brother Adam BEan were sold to the British to be trained for
fighting the Colinies during the American Revolution and eventualkly were
sent to Philadelphia, PA.
At the war's end, both brothers decided to stay in America and settled first
in VA.
Nicholas Bean later moved to Stocks Co, NC, where he was married to
Annie Welborn, who was half Indian of the Washburn tribe in North CArolina.
Their children were James W. (b.1799), Thomas C. (b.1802) and Sarah (1804-
1822), who d. in Stokes Co, NC. IN 1823, Nicholas moved to Parker Twp,
Clark Co, IL to live near his brother Adam and family. He died in 1838 at
the age of 80."
James W. Bean left Stokes Co. in 1823 with his brother Thomas C. They
settled in Coewta Co, GA, where James was married to Nancy Stypes. James
and Nancy had three children-- MInerva, Mary and Nancy, who had one blue
and one brown eye. James's wife Nancy died in 1832 and
he remarried in 1835. At this time, Thomas C. Bean left his brother and
family. James and Margaret Spradley had eight children: James, Annie,
Henry, Winfield, Margaret, Sarah, John and WIlliam. The Beans lived in Coweta Co
until 1844 when James decided to join his brother in Texas. Tom had written
many letters about the fine farmland in Fannin Co.
The family started to Texas but in central Mississippi, James became seriously
ill. They started home and reached North Talledega Co, Ala. where they
decided to settle on 50 acres of land. James lived there until 1847 when he
sold his farm and moved to Sycamore, Ala. His last years were spent with
a daughter, Mrs. Minerva Clark of Calhoun Co, Ala. He died there in Feb 1887,
at the age of 88, five months before his brother Thomas."
