Satellite Imagery sites
-
UCAR Site Hi-res
visible (and infrared) satellite imagery sponsored and produced by the
University Center for Atmospheric Research.
Other Internet resources may be found there too.
-
GOES Latest Images from NASA.
This site uses an alternative imagery display that is a composite of visible
and infrared.
Satellite Imagery, Visible, entire continental USA (CONUS)
-
High-resolution
CONUS from UCAR in JPEG (jpg) format
-
Colorized
CONUS from NASA in JPEG format. The coloring represents the several
wavelengths (infrared, shortwave infrared ... visible) the GOES satellite
sees.
Hi-res visible close-ups
-
Wichita
Kansas (UCAR, jpg) showing Nebraska, Oklahoma and North Texas.
-
Austin
Texas (UCAR, jpg) showing most of Texas, 2/3 of Oklahoma, some Mexico.
-
DFW
(TNRCC, gif) The Dallas/Fort Worth area in N. Central Tx.
-
Texas
(NASA, jpg) colorized view.
The lakes (Corp of Engineers Reservoirs) in N. Central Texas are
visible on the first three satellite images above - when using a good
JPEG (jpg) viewer. The JPEG viewers built-in to Netscape and Internet Explorer
really don't do JPEG images justice.
