The Fight You've Heard About:
Some added fun in the Texas Hill Country

For those of you who wonder what this is all about, last Winter George "Pappy" Mandry and I got into some serious teasing on the Wings On The Internet (WOTI) Discussion List. One thing led to another and one day I challenged Pappy to a "duel". Since I made the challenge, Pappy said he should get to choose the weapons .... PIES! And thus the tale begins ......

After months of anticipation, and the strange disappearance of George "Pappy" Mandry from the List, it was unclear as the day began if it would in fact take place. WOTI riders had arived from around the country, and while they were enjoying the rally and depositing some additional moneys in the Texas treasury (thank you!) they had really come to see the Pie Fight. It was rumored that Pappy had been seen the night before and low and behold, he showed up for coffee at the local McD's Saturday morning.

Quiet a few WOTI members also showed up but most went to hit the rally after coffee while Pappy, Dru, Dane, and Terry and I decided to take a ride around the hill country. As we road along enjoying ourselves, we realized we were running late for the scheduled "Pie War". When we mentioned this, Dane pointed out that they sure couldn't start without me and Pappy so we finished our ride. We wound our way back to Kerrville, and after a brief stop off to pick up pie "fixins" for the fight, we headed back to the appointed sight of the fight.

Since we were a bit late, Dane rode back to the rally to let folks know we were coming. It only took a few minutes for the word to spread that the fight was on and that we had arrived. The rest, as they say ...... follows!
