Did you know that this is not the first time America has been in a terrible state of moral decay? America was in a serious moral slump right after the Revolutionary War. An epidemic of drunkenness was raging. Bank robberies were occurring daily. Women were afraid to be on the street at night. Infidel Clubs and Filthy Speech Clubs were popular. Church attendance was rapidly declining. Chief Justice John Marshall wrote, "The church is too far gone ever to be redeemed."
Moral and spiritual recovery began when the churches agreed to set aside the first Monday of each month to pray for spiritual awakening.
