The group from Dallas (from r to l) Doug, Alex, Elizabeth, Brad and our Minnesota friend Dave Gimberline. The Woman/Man Enbu team from the USA (Amy Fasula & Bobby Hall). They earned third place.
The Canadian Woman/Man Enbu (Holly Graham, Lyle Dauncy). They earned silver. Holly studied with us in Dallas for 3 years before returning to Saskatoon. Well, this is the whole group of us. Wow. More US people than I had ever seen at an International Tourney. Check the results.

Here is a pict of the Dallas group in a small resturant hamming it up, just before the Worlds. From top-left Mike, Brad, Elizabeth, Susan, and Julie. The Girls kata team earned 6th, Brad earned 5th in Fukugo. Our Woman/Man Enbu earned 6th also. The Girls Kata Team, Coach Toru Shimoji, and many other athletes get a feel for the mats just before performing in the World Championships. The Stadium ended up full to the brim with spectators by the end of the day.

Here is a pict of the crowd at the Finals Competition. A lot different than in the US, eh?

Brad Webb earns Gold, Dr Castiblanco gets Silver, and Cristian Garcia & Chinzo Machide earn Bronze in Fukugo at Bogota (97).
Other USA Athletes attending were Gloria Coble and Toru Shimoji. GLoria and Toru earned 5th place in Woman/Man Enbu, and Toru finished 5th in Kata Competition.
Brad Webb is able to (picture above) reach the top 8 in kumite only to lose to the man who earned first(not pictured here) Pablo Paiba of Brazil.

USA Team members are Tati Eugenio, Randal Hackworth, Avi Rokah, Penny Ringwood, and Brad Webb. Randal earns Bronze in Fukugo, Penny earns 4th place in indiviual Womens Kata. Avi and Brad reach quarterfinals in Kumite and Fukugo Avi Rokah, Brad Webb, and Randal Hackworth take second place to Argentina in Team Kumite.

USA Team members are (R to L) Vern Vaden(Judge), Ron Vance, Susan Vance, Tati Eugenio, Hidetaka Nishiyama, Amy Sperling, Brad Webb, Penny Ringwood(Coach), Gene Takahashi (judge),Avi Rokah(Kneeling). Not pictured Steve Gancherov. Gancherov, Rokah, Vance, and Webb suprise everyone by winning Men's Kumite, defeating Italy in the finals.

USA Team members are: Brad Webb, Tom Davis, Albert Cheah, Paul Schwartz, Neville Billimoria, Paul Billimoria, Penny Ringwood, Tati Eugenio, Margaret Thomas. Woohoo! Penny Ringwood and Margaret Thomas earn Gold medals in Kata and Kumite. They successfully defended their 1991 gold medals(PanAms in Peru). The Men's Kata team earns third place in a surprise upset of the Argentina Team. And Brad Webb surprisingly places 4th in individual kumite. Nishiyama Sensei speaks to the Athletes and Judges before starting Judges Training.
The team From Brazil. They did well (as you can see) and they have so much fun. Party people!! The team from Argentina. They did well too :). They are also a happy bunch, with great team spirit.
