COMING ATTRACTIONS

POCKET SANDWICH THEATRE’S 2008 SCHEDULE

Here are all our shows (most of them come and gone) for 2008. We are starting (early, for us) planning our 2009 schedule. So – if any of you have a favorite comedy you’d like us to consider, or one of our popcorn-tossers you’d like to see again, just drop us a line at pst@dallas.net.

“Attack! Of The Killer Mutant Leeches” by Dennis Millegan. Our first popcorn-tossing comedy-spoof of 2008. January 3 through February 16.

“Murder At The Howard Johnsons” by Ron Clark and Sam Bobrick. Can murder by funny? It can when it’s attempted by three would-be murderers who are as inept as these loonies. February 22 through March 29

“Brandi The Vampire Staker” by Kevin Michael Fuld. Does the title sound vaguely familiar? How, you may ask, do you spoof a spoof? Come see. Let Brandi use her stake; you use your popcorn. April 4 through May 17.

“Tom, Dick and Harry” by Ray and Michael Cooney. A hilarious farce comedy. Tom and his wife want to adopt a baby and wish to make a good impression on the lady from the adoption agency. Tom’s brothers are anxious to help; unfortunately, they’re a couple of crooks; even worse, they’re clumsy crooks. May 23 through June 28.

“Atomic Cavegirls Of Island Zero” by Steve Lovett. Our master of loony melodrama takes us to a mysterious tropical island. And lets us throw popcorn at luscious ladies. July 11 through August 23.

“Moon Over Buffalo” by Ken Ludwig. The farce comedy (by the author of “Lend Me A Tenor”) which brought Carol Burnett back to Broadway. Hilarious backstage shenanigans by an aging acting couple (not quite the Lunts), who have one last shot at starring roles in a Frank Capra movie. August 29 through September 27. To be directed by Rodney Dobbs. August 29 through September 27.

“Sweeney Todd – The Fiend Of Fleet Street” by Joe Dickinson Definitely not the musical. Another of the Pocket’s infamous popcorn-tossing comedy-spoofs. The legendary tale of an evil London barber who cut more than beards, and his female accomplice who cooked very strange meat pies. October 3 through November 15.

And how do we end the year? Why, of course: “Ebenezer Scrooge,” by Joe Dickinson and Laurie Tirmenstein. November 27 through December 23 (with added shows). Our musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic, “A Christmas Carol,” presented for the 27th Holiday Season.

A SORT OF A BRAGGIN’ NOTE:

We’re sort of proud of the fact that we provide a venue for local writers. Our melodramas (yeah, the ones that horrify Theatah Professors because the audience tosses popcorn at the actors) are by local playwrights, and we’re always interested in hearing about scripts in work or just sitting around gathering dust. We can only use a few a year, but we’re always glad to talk to you about them.
